Genetically Engineered Wheat is Coming... in the U.S. and the UK
The USDA has deregulated GMO "HB4" wheat for field trials in the U.S. The GMO wheat, developed by Argentinian company, Bioceres Crop Solutions, is genetically engineered to be glufosinate-tolerant and is claimed to be drought-resistant. And of course there has been no safety testing. Conventional wheat is already sprayed with carcinogenic glyphosate during harvest in a process called desiccation, and so will the HB4 wheat. Now, glufosinate, an herbicide even more toxic than glyphosate will be added to the diets of anyone eating this HB4 wheat.Glufosinate is known to be neurotoxic and linked to autism and memory loss. It is also linked to birth defects and has been found to be toxic to developing brains, being especially dangerous for babies and children. And in a joint document published in February 2024, organizations from Asia, Africa, and Latin America stated that HB4 wheat is less productive than conventional wheat, refuting Bioceres' claim that it has higher yields. As we know well, GMO corporations always lie.
Across the pond in England, field trials of GMO gene-edited wheat and barley are underway. The toxic GMO wheat and grain invasion is coming...

Study: Early Life Exposure To PFAS Chemicals Permanently Disrupt Gut Microbiome
Early life exposure to "forever chemicals" in the environment permanently disrupts the gut microbiome in mice, contributing to the development of metabolic disease in later life, according to a new study published in the journal Environmental Health Perspectives. Human exposure to these chemicals during early childhood may be contributing to the recent epidemic of metabolic disorders, including obesity and Type 2 diabetes among adults. The researchers focused specifically on 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzofuran (TCDF), a widespread persistent organic pollutant (POP) that is a byproduct of waste incineration, metal production, and fossil-fuel and wood combustion. TCDF accumulates in the food chain, and humans are primarily exposed through consumption of high-fat foods, such as meat, dairy products and some fish. Babies can be exposed through consumption of breast milk.
Study: Microplastics Infiltrating Brain Tissue: ‘There’s Nowhere Left Untouched’
In the latest study, an examination of the livers, kidneys and brains of autopsied bodies found that all contained microplastics. But the 91 brain samples contained on average about 10 to 20 times more than the other organs. The researchers found that 24 of the brain samples measured on average about 0.5% plastic by weight. “It’s pretty alarming,” Campen said. “There’s much more plastic in our brains than I ever would have imagined or been comfortable with.” The researchers looked at 12 brain samples from people who had died with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. These brains contained up to 10 times more plastic by weight than healthy samples. The study also found the quantity of microplastics in brain samples from 2024 was about 50% higher from the total in samples that date to 2016, suggesting the concentration of microplastics found in human brains is rising at a similar rate to that found in the environment.

Monarch Butterfly Population Decreasing
Scientists are tracking an alarming drop in the monarch butterfly population. According to researchers, the monarch population in Mexico this winter was the smallest it’s been in the past decade of monitoring. The monarch’s striking orange and black pattern makes you stop and stare when you see it. Lately, it’s rare to see a monarch butterfly land on a plant or flutter by. In St. Paul, the Monarch Joint Venture studies the insect. “We won’t know what this year officially has looked like until those numbers are released early next spring or late next winter,” Katie Puffer, Monarch Joint Venture, said. “Anecdotally, we’ve heard a lot of questions from people wondering why they’ve seen fewer monarchs this summer.” Experts explained people are not seeing monarchs as much because of habitat loss, pesticides and extreme weather events.
EPA Thought Industry-Funded Scientists Could Support Its Conclusion That a Long-Regulated Pesticide Is Not a Cancer Risk
On a Southern California spring morning in 1973, a tanker truck driver jackknifed his rig and dumped the agricultural fumigant he was transporting onto a city street. A Los Angeles Fire Dept emergency response team spent 4 hours cleaning up the chemical, 1,3-dichloropropene, or 1,3-D, a fumigant sold as Telone that farmers use to kill nematodes and other soil-dwelling organisms before planting. 7 years after the spill, 2 emergency responders developed the same rare, aggressive blood cancer—histiocytic lymphoma—and died within 2 months of each other. Within a decade of the men’s deaths, described as case studies in JAMA Internal Medicine, the National Toxicology Program, or NTP, reported “clear evidence” that 1,3-D causes cancer in both rats and mice. The finding led the EPA to classify the chemical as “likely to be carcinogenic to humans” in 1985. So it wasn’t a surprise when researchers at UC, Los Angeles reported in 2003 that Californians who’d lived at least two decades in areas with the highest applications of 1,3-D faced a heightened risk of dying from pancreatic cancer. Yet EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs’ Cancer Assessment Review Committee, or CARC, concluded in 2019 that 1,3-D isn’t likely to cause cancer after all.
In India, 90 Farmer Leaders From 18 States Unanimously Oppose GMO Crops
Farmer union leaders from 18 states and activists advocating farmers’ rights have written a letter to Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Minister Bhupender Yadav, demanding a national policy on genetically modified (GM) crops. On August 22, 2024, the group held a one-day meeting in Chandigarh and passed a resolution against GM crops. “GM organisms (and their products) are unnecessary, unsafe, and unwanted in India’s food and agriculture systems. Farmers in India want sovereign, nature-conserving farming. Modern biotechnology is an expensive and unsafe means to take over and control our agricultural systems with false promises which we cannot and will not allow,” the farmer unions stated in their resolution. “We will ensure that the national policy to be formulated (on GM crops) is truly a biosecurity conservation policy, which addresses biosecurity as well as socio-economic considerations and has a precautionary approach. This should allow the government to exercise caution, and not impose technology that is risky, dangerous and unnecessary for farmers,” the joint-passed resolution added.
It's good news that the majority of India's farmers have enough sense to not be bamboozled by the GMO/pesticide industry.
