Stop the Release of Experimental Genetically Modified Mosquitoes.

Bill Gates and mad scientists. A recipe for disaster?

Tell the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reject experimental genetically modified (GM) mosquitoes made by Oxitec, a company that receives funding from Bill Gates. Oxitec has provided regulators and the public with insufficient, unreliable, and misleading information about their GM mosquitoes.

If the agency goes ahead with this risky experiment, 20,000 GM mosquitoes will be released per acre, per week, for an unspecified period of time in Florida and Texas, putting residents and the environment at unforeseen risks.

Oxitec claims their GM mosquitoes can replace toxic pesticides and safely reduce the population of mosquitoes that transmit disease. They also claim that their GM mosquitoes cannot propagate and reproduce. BUT THIS IS NOT TRUE.   

In Brazil, a similar experiment lasted for a period of 27 months and tens of millions of GM mosquitoes were released. A study by Yale scientists published in the journal Nature found that the wild mosquito population rebounded and any population decline was not sustainable. At the end of the experiment there was clear evidence that the GM mosquitoes bred with wild ones, creating Super Mosquitoes.

Once released into the environment, GM mosquitoes can’t be recalled. Help us stop this insane experiment. Florida and Texas may be the first states but they certainly won't be the last.
